The Sweet & Spicy Soundtrack: V.3

When I hear the music of Mon Laferte I think of home, the conceptual felling not the actual place. I think of rockabilly greasers hanging out in East L.A. taquerias at 2am. I notice tipsy Betty Paige inspired Latinas there, swaying their heads as they sing vintage 60’s boleros. And while in that space I see myself sipping the smoothest tequila known to man as I take a moment to analyze the man I’ve become, just like my father had done before me.

Give her a listen and maybe her music will evoke unique feelings all your own.

When life gets noisy and stressful a lot of people seek out a quiet relaxing tune to even things out. Not me. I drown out the noise with MORE NOISE! This week, I've been raging to Head Cage, the new album from grindcore giants, Pig Destroyer. It's pummeling, no nonsense heaviness that hits the perfect balance of groovy and brutal for me. Favorite track: The Torture Fields

(Fun fact: longtime fans of the band would call this album "accessible." You agree?)
